VION Food Netherlands' Convenience business unit consists of four constituents: VION Retail Nederland, Encebe Vleeswaren, Foodservice and Distrifresh.
VION Retail Netherlands
The Groenlo and Schijndel branches of VION Retail Netherlands produce ready-to-use meat products for supermarket organisations.
VION Retail Groenlo's speciality is pre-packing meat. Some 1.2 million pre-packed products find their week to supermarkets from Groenlo every week. The Groenlo branch produces mainly ‘cut products’ such as chops, loin steak and shoarma.
VION Retail Schijndel is a specialist producer of convenience products which do not need any additions and take little time to cook. As these are mostly minced meat products, rump steak is not considered a convenience product although it also takes little time to cook. Examples of these convenience products are meat patties wrapped in bacon (called 'slavink' in Dutch) and minced schnitzel.
Retail locations are like large-scale butcheries
VION's retail locations can be compared to large traditional butcheries. We supply thousands of packs of fresh meat products to hundreds of supermarkets. The strength of our retail branches is that the same, certainty and confidence are offered to consumers every day.
VION uses modern packaging materials
We pack our retail products in atmospheric packaging: leak-free, hygienic packs that are sealed airtight. The meat is contained in a special air mixture, also called 'atmosphere', in the pack to be able to better guarantee its quality and shelf life. The upper and lower sides of each pack are labelled with all information that consumers need, such as the weight, the price, the name and the composition of the product, but also information about traceability, preparing and storing the product.

VION Retail Netherlands offers retailers high-quality meat as well as an extensive range of services. We know retail customers' requirements and wishes because we work to a customer-oriented approach. Together with retailers, the VION Retail account teams work to achieve optimum results.
