VION responds to seasonal influences

There has recently been a perceptible growth in deboned products in the processing sector. Such products are easier for clients to process and VION is able to offer that added value.

Demand for substantial food is greater in winter than in summer. Therefor we produce more products with a higher fat content in the winter. These component is, among others, used for sausages.

In de wintertijd is de vraag naar stevige kost groter. Daarom produceren we dan meer producten met een hoger vetgehalte dan in de zomer. De grondstof wordt onder andere gebruikt voor worst.

The product development department of VION Retail Netherlands points out trends and opportunities in the market. In close consultation with the client, these are then incorporated into the development of products. For example, product innovations can be based on the seasons, resulting in special summer and winter ranges.

Barbecue

A good example of a seasonal influence is the barbecue season. As we approach the Whit weekend and the weather starts turning warmer, many people itch to light their barbecues. Each barbecue season, VION offers a number of tasty, modern, seasoned products. Its barbecue combination packs are also very popular.
Other summer products include the Scaloppines: pork cutlets in Italian style. They come in distinct flavours: pizzaiola, limone and pesto to get you into holiday mood at home!

Public holidays

VION continually works on producing special products and prepared meals for public holidays or large-scale events. All sorts of celebratory dishes, such as a special rolled roast or other large cuts, are available for Christmas and other holidays. Often with a distinctive, tasteful trimming and seasoning, they can usually be placed straight in the oven.
In 2010, VION took the Football World Cup in South Africa as its theme and developed various sports-related products. These included the world cup burger, a beef burger with a distinctive African flavour, and the ‘lion’ burgers, spiced and breaded for true Dutch football fans.

Convenience

The growing demand for convenience products is translated into a range of special quick to prepare products and platters and an intriguing barbecue offering.

Rediscovery of traditional dishes

Tradition with a modern twist: VION Retail Netherlands is using this to help modern consumers who have lost the habit of preparing 'old-fashioned' casseroles. Today’s consumers no longer have time to spend hours in the kitchen. VION provides everything ready to use.

Regional

Another trend is the desire for traditional, regional dishes. Here too VION is responding by offering regional varieties. An example of this is its three new sausages in a Veluwe, Twents, and Limburg variant, weighing only 80 grams each. This is VION’s answer to another new trend: some consumers are looking for smaller portions.
