VION launches Meat lovers’ App to help confused cooks and support British farmers

A new and free cookery resource has come to the rescue of meat lovers stuck in a recipe rut.  If you’re mad about meat but the different cuts and how to cook them get you in a muddle, the Farm To Fork recipe App has been designed to help shoppers decide what to do with their cuts of meat and plan perfect meals.  By promoting the quality and versatility of all British meat cuts, it will also be helping British farmers by getting more home-grown meat back on our plates.

Available now as a free download from the Apple App store, the virtual cook book is the first from iTunes to feature recipes for pork, beef, lamb and chicken in one easy to use application.  It features a comprehensive library of recipes that will help people better understand what dishes to create with their meat selections, and inspire them to try something new by showing how to make the most of all meat cuts and the best ways to cook them.

Rather than leafing through books and spending time on internet searches, stressed shoppers can simply select a meat and then the cut, before choosing from a menu of suitable recipes to spark kitchen creativity.  Regular updates and recipe additions will reflect the best of seasonal produce and encourage people to shop and cook more in line with the seasons.

With recent research revealing 8 in 10 women cook the same meals over and over again, and blame fussy children, hectic lifestyles and keeping costs down for being stuck in a rut¹, it’s no surprise many of us don’t know one cut of meat from another and are unsure about which cuts of meat to buy for meals or even how to cook them.  Farm To Fork features delicious, easy to prepare meals that even novice cooks can get to grips with to expand their recipe repertoire.  A simple fork icon illustrates the difficulty rating, enabling shoppers to pick something quick and easy or a little more challenging for impressing friends on a Saturday night.

Farm to Fork has been developed by VION Food Group, one of Britain's leading meat and poultry food companies. The App is free to download from Apple's App store from July 21, with plans to extend it to Blackberry and Android platforms later in the year.
