Farmingnet is a web-based information system for pig farmers. The system quickly and clearly reports the slaughter details back to the pig farmer. The slaughter details enable pig farmers to determine whether they should make adjustments to their stable management. Click here for a demonstration on www.farmingnet.nl.
Farmingnet gives pig farmers a direct insight into the weights, eye depth and meat to fat ratio of the animals delivered. In addition, pig farmers can get extra information, for instance on performance within their farms. This generates more knowledge of the pigs' health and enables farmers tot benchmark their performance. Together with VION Farming employees, intermediaries, vets and/or feed information officers, pig farmers can set about using the data to improve their results. Breeders are often also involved in this improvement process.
Pig farmers can use Farmingnet to report details of the animals they want to deliver in a clearly structured manner, while automatically supplying information about feed and about any veterinary medicines used. This is not only important for the chain inspection that VION Food Netherlands works with, but it also helps pig farmers and VION Food Netherlands to comply with their legal obligation to provide supply chain information.
Pig farmers are rewarded for correctly registering the details of the animals to be delivered in advance. They can be paid 30 eurocents extra for every pig: 10 eurocents for just registering them, 10 eurocents for registering them one week in advance (with a deviation of less than 5%) and another 10 eurocents for registering them two weeks in advance (if the deviation is less than 10%).

The continuous flow of information and data exchange helps pig farmers to optimise their business operations and gradually raises the overall production and product quality as well as the farm's economic balance. This close cooperation enables pig farmers and VION to supply market-oriented products to customers and consumers.
